Introduction to Kundalini Yoga Talk & Practice- 20 minutes

Join Ella and I for an introductory 20 minute Kundalini Yoga practice to align your light honoring the Padam Kadam Dharam Krya of Kunalini Yoga.

This practice allows us to take in all we have to offer in our every day relationships through shifting our bodies into the parasympathetic state. From this place of balance and stability we can make choices that move us forward in a conscious manner moment to moment. Namaste.

Lets review some of the anatomy, neurology, and yogic science involved in this brief practice:

In this video we introduce the concepts of the micro-orbit which flows up the main energy channel along the spinal cord and down the Vagus nerve which is the largest nerve in the parasympathetic nervous system and activation of this nerve is associated with a multitude of benefits for our body including reduction in blood pressure, pulse rate, cortisol levels, and overall a restorative epigenetic signature... Long, deep belly breaths- this is the quickest way to drop into your parasympathetic nervous system.... Chanting- chanting is NOT singing, no one cares what you sound like, your voice is medicine for YOUR body, use the breath to create healing vibrations for your body, where can you feel the vibrations? can you tune into the subtle lingering vibrations after you stop chanting that is your own energy humming? The consonants of the sound direct the vibrations, the long vowel sounds are held by your voice and serve to provide the sound medicine to different parts of your body, if you need to try cupping your hands over your ears and just chanting Om for a few rounds and let this frequency vibrate throughout your body to get you in the rhythm of your own voice.....Mantra- Sat on the inhale, Nam on the exhale.. this gives your mind an anchor to hold onto and allows you to ride your breath with a consciousness and awareness that is deeply healing.... Visualization- again using our incredible mind and power of imagination to facilitate a deeper connection and level of healing...Movement of the spinal fluid through Cat-Cow postures and deep breathing, this is using the breath, diaphragm and cranial-sacral wave to move the spinal fluid up and down along the spinal access literally bathing the brain and washing it via the Glymphatic System which is your nervous system's mechanism to "take out the trash"!

You can perform this Krya, Padam Kadam Dharam, for 3, 5, 7, 11, or 33 minutes... I enjoy practicing this Krya for 11 minutes at a time in my own practice in particular when I need to get back into my body and find my flow from within. Find your rhythm. Hope you enjoy this short introduction to Kundalini Yoga... there is SO much more to dig into, let this excite you for all to come!
